Tableau Software to Host Inaugural Customer Conference This Summer

Explore the latest developments in data analytics and visualization with the industry leaders that are pushing this technology to the next level.

SEATTLE, Wash. – April 16, 2008 – Tableau Software®, the global leader in fast analytics and visualization software, announced today the first-ever Tableau Customer Conference, scheduled for July 20-22, 2008 at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle. Designed to provide educational and networking opportunities for people using Tableau’s visualization and analysis applications, the conference will feature four keynote sessions from noted visualization expert Stephen Few of Perceptual Edge, famed computer graphics professor Pat Hanrahan, Tableau CEO Christian Chabot and Dr. Chris Stolte, principal inventor of Tableau’s patented technologies. Additionally, more than 25 case study and best practices sessions taught by visualization experts will take place. Registration is now open at http://www.tableaucustomerconference.com.

Conference attendees will also receive a sneak peek of Tableau 4.0, the next generation of the company’s desktop and Web-based visual analysis solutions, set for release later this summer. Other activities will enable attendees to:

  • Hear from major customers like Cornell University and Coca Cola Enterprises, who use Tableau’s breakthrough analytics and visualization to better understand data.
  • Learn the best ways to use information visualization from Tableau experts including Dr. Jock Mackinlay who helped coin the term "information visualization" and found the industry while at Xerox PARC
  • Meet one-on-one with Tableau developers, sales engineers and consultants to discuss and solve specific data challenges
  • Network with colleagues from other organizations and industries, including national defense, financial services, pharmaceuticals and online advertising, about improving their analytic efforts

"People will leave the conference with ideas they can leverage immediately in their everyday work," said Elissa Fink, vice president of marketing for Tableau Software. "If you’re someone who struggles with making sense of data locked in spreadsheets, traditional BI systems or data warehouses, you’ll learn and gain so much from the sessions, resources and opportunities at the Customer Conference. It's a place to get educated, collaborate with peers and start or improve your analytical projects."

The conference will kick off on Sunday, July 20 with a welcome reception at the Edgewater, where attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Chabot and network with other Tableau users. Other events include a special event at the Seattle Aquarium, where attendees will have the opportunity to sample wine from Washington vineyards, enjoy live music and explore hands-on exhibits of Washington’s marine life, as well as an optional Seattle Mariners game at Safeco Field.
