Hurricanes Rita and Katrina: Storm Tracks Through the Gas Fields
By merging data about the change in gas field production between 2004 and 2005 and overlaying paths colored by the strength of the respective hurricanes, we can see that Rita caused more damage to gas rigs in part because more rigs were in her path. Rita’s damage was more symmetrical around the path while Katrina’s damage was mostly on the surge side.
