Sheetlinks - INTERNAL ERROR

I have had some difficulty with sheetlinks. I do not have a problem adding the links or even using them in a newly created workbook. However, my problem appears when I open up a workbook that had been previously closed and I receive 'INTERNAL ERROR' messages for all sheetlinks. I have tried deleting the links and recreating them to no avail. I am connected to multiple SQL Server tables but only through left joins (not custom sql). The most frustrating part is the fact that they work perfectly when I am testing and creating the sheets and dashboards, but when I come back to them, they are faulty. I have spoken on the phone with one senior sales consultant who was helpful but unable to fix the underlying problem.

I also created a packaged workbook so that I wouldn't be querying the actual SQL Server database and the links worked originally, but now they do not. Before I closed the original workbook, I published it to Tableau Server and was able to follow the links. However, when I had a co-worker view the same published workbook on the server, they were unable to follow the links.

Is there something that I may be doing incorrectly to cause the 'INTERNAL ERROR'? Thanks.

Comments

An internal error, is something you shouldn't see and likely indicates a bug of some sort. The simplest thing to look at would be an example of the link that you are clicking on in the server. To post that, right click on a link that isn't working in the server and choose 'copy shortcut' or 'copy', then paste it into the comment text.
