Handling of NULL-values / missing values

Tableau recognizes Null values from the data side correctly but I could not find a way to suppress them getting drawn.
My problem:
- I have a time-series dataset with multiple variables
- some of the variables are not given for the whole time period covered (mostly some variables start later)
- I want to display all variables in a single view (while just having "gaps" where no values are given for a certain variable)

When I do so, Null values are replaced by "0" which is not what I want - I also didn't manage to configure a filter appropriately since filters always influence ALL variables.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks,
Wolfgang

I have the same problem, any suggestions?

I could probably create a new calculated field, but I have about 50 fields that contain NULLs so that's not really tractable.
