Comment Tracking in Server

Does Tableau Server have a way to track the comments posted in all views published to the server? As the administrator, it would be nice to see what everyone is saying in some sort of RSS feed or comment roll like many blogs have.

Comments

I wrote the commenting - and Server doesn't provide that capability yet, sorry. Here are some of my personal thoughts: We're definitely aware of the "walled garden" aspect of interpersonal interaction on views in the current system. As we grow and mature the product I think we'll definitely be adding more tools for collaborative analysis.

Notification such as you've described is definitely one part of that story. We've done a few little experiments in this area, but would love to hear more from current users about how they're using the simple comment system in place now.

  1. How long are conversations, in time and count?
  2. What percentage of discussions involve multiple views?
  3. Do comments go "stale" often? How should that affect notification?
  4. What groups of people want notification, and at what levels?

Those are a few just pulled off the top of my head. So, we're thinking about this, and would appreciate the thoughts of those who wander through this thread. :)

As a developer, I want a weekly report of new comments so that I can identify oportunities to create new views for my users.

Can an adminstrator access the comment repository for me? I would want comments sorted by project, workbook, view, date.
